1. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
A bird in the hand A bird in the bush
Better keep now than seek anon.
Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow.
2 A candle lights others and consumes itself.
We are not born for ourselves,
3 A clear conscience laughs at false accusations.
句子開頭 A clear conscience 也有寫成 a good conscience或 a quiet
後面部分可有各種寫法,如﹕….. is a sure card.(有堅定的自信心),….. sleeps in thunder.(熟睡無恐、高枕無憂)。
A clean hand wants no washing.
A good anvil does not fear the hammer.
True blue will never stain.
可見另一組的諺語﹕Conscience does make cowards of us all. (73)。
4. A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit.
