作业评语是一种作业批阅的方式,也是英语教学法中的一个重要环节,它便于学生更加清楚地了解自己作业中的优缺点,有利于沟通师生之间的情感,调动学生的学习积极性,促进学生养成良好的学习习惯。首先我们从奥斯丁的两次实验来看一看作业评语的重要性。
1974年奥斯丁(Austin)做了这样一个实验。他把高中教学班的学生随机分成两组,并对其中一个组的学生的作业全部予以评分,而对另一个组的学生的作业只随机地抽取一半给予评分。七周后,他发现两组学生的成绩并没有什么差别。
1976年奥斯丁拓展了这项研究。他把高中教学班的学生同样随机分成两组,对其中一组学生的作业不加说明地判出分数,而对另一组学生的作业不仅给出分数,而且还加写评语,用以赞扬或鼓励学生。后来经过检测,加写评语的学生的平均成绩高于没加评语的学生。
这两次实验显而易见地说明了中小教育中普遍存在的单纯的分数评价已不太适合评价的需要。它只是对知识内容进行评价,而对学生在学习知识、完成作业过程中相伴而生的目的、心态、方法等并没有直接评价。相反对学生作业的短语评价的做法则更加有效果。所以教师应该改变传统的遇对必钩(√),有错必叉(×)或打分数,或分等级的批改作业的方式,而采取在作业本上标出正误符号后,用赞扬、鼓励、期盼、惋惜等情感语言代替学生见惯不惊的分数标记。那么如何写好作业评语呢?本人就教学中的一些体验谈一谈看法。
一、作业评语要符合学生的实际水平
评语是写给学生看的,所以一方面评语要使用学生能看得懂的英语来写,所使用的词汇和语法不能过高或过低于学生的现有水平,要切合学生的实际水平,符合学生的个性心理发展需要;另一方面要做到循序渐进,由易到难,能够起到跳一跳,摘到桃子的作用,也就是说学生通过上下文的猜测或借助于词典就能理解。例如:
It's very clever of you to do so.
It's nice of you to write this way.
Wonderful!Your English is very good and your answers are correct.

二、作业评语要有助于学生对所学知识的理解和记忆
语言的学习在于运用,所以教师在写评语时应运用所学的知识,以使学生能加强理解和记忆。例如: You have improved a lot.I am proud of you.
That's great.Please never give up trying.Success comes through hard work and constant effort.
No pains,no gains.I hope you will make more progress in the future.

利用所学过的短语、句型和时态给学生写评语就能取得很好效果,可以帮助学生巩固和运用语言。
三、评语要有利于激发学生的学习热情
学生有被尊重、被表扬、被认可的需要。在写作业时,希望得到教师的表扬和鼓励,这是学生精神上的需
要。如果精神上的需要长久得不到满足,他们就会产生消极的思想。因此,需要是学生学习行为的动力之
一。需要的满足直接影响学生积极性的发挥,要充分发挥学生的积极性,对学生进行有效地鼓励是教育的策略之一。激励就是激发鼓励。一般地讲,激励就是以某种刺激为引诱,调动人的主动性、积极性和创造性。教师的评语就是刺激学生的诱因。学生有不同的性格,有不同的需要,那么激励的方法也不同。教师针对不同的学生及其作业,在不同场合所作的评语可激发学生的学习热情,让优等生更上一层楼,使中等生改正缺点、发扬优点,使暂时落后的学生能克服畏惧心理,树立信心。所以对优等生的作业表扬中要有指正,教师可通过评语向他们提出更高要求。例如:
It's good to be correct.It's also important to be creative.
Excellent.You haven't made any mistakes,but do try to make your handwriting neater.
对中等生的作业要慎重评价,在评语中要多督促。例如:
You had better be more careful!Pay more attention to the tenses.

对于差生的作业要多点激励,温和地指出错误的同时,也要指出他的优点以资鼓励。例如:

四、作业评语要能体现师生感情的交流
作业不仅是师生间教学信息的相互反馈,而且是联系和沟通师生感情的桥梁。在作业中教师可以觉察到学生的思想和自主学习情况,从评语中学生也能领悟出教师对他是否关心、有信心和责任心。因此我们要充分利用作业评语加深师生情感交流。评语言辞恳切,切中要害;或热情鼓励、或委婉告诫……始终使学生保持清醒的头脑、强烈的兴趣、昂扬的斗志,激励并坚定他们青出于蓝而胜于蓝的信念。通过评语,教师尽可把祝福、问候、关切、激励、真诚、信任之情化作甘甜的泉水,去滋润学生的心田,引起师生教与学的共鸣,达到教与学两者的和谐与统一。
例如在节假日或某学生生日前,教师可以给予学生一些祝愿语:
●Merry Christmas!/Happy New Year!/Enjoy yourself in the coming holidays!/Happy birthday1/Many happy returns!
又如某个学生因为生病缺课作业完成得很糟糕,教师就要说一些安慰的话:
●Lingling,you have made a few mistakes in your work.I know that is because you were absent...I think it is only natural.Don't lose heart.I am ready to help you.
再如某个学生因为考试不及格失去信心,教师就要说一些激励的话:

五、作业评语形式要丰富多彩
作业评语不仅仅是对作业本身进行评价,也可以包括学习和生活的各个方面,它的语言形式更是丰富多彩,千变万化,既可以是一个词或一个短语,也可以是一句话、一个段落或一则格言。例如:

●Well done!/Neat and tidy!

谈谈高中学生做英语作业的重要性

在新的英语课程改革中,广大英语教师充分关注学生在英语学习、训练、习得过程中的自主、探究、协作与体验,并获得了不小的成果。然而对于英语作业评语,却往往成为教学过程中被遗忘的角落。批改作业是教师在课后与学生进行学习和情感交流的有效方式。作业评语则是情感输出的载体,不仅体现教师对学生作业的态度和意见,也体现教师对学生学习成果的认可或否定。评语虽小,作用很大,它起到了沟通师生感情、激发学习兴趣、激励学生学习主动性和渲染英语学习气氛的良好作用。本文拟对英语作业评语在实际教学中的运用及其作用做些粗浅的探讨。
一 热情的表扬性的评语
苏霍姆斯基曾说:“成功的欢乐是一种巨大的情绪力量,是继续学习的一种动力。” 每一个学生都渴望自己的学习成果得到肯定和赞扬。用“Good!”,Great!”,“Wonderful!”,“Excellent ”,“Perfect!” “How clever you are!” “Your work is quite good!” “I'm very proud of you!”等这些简单的褒词和短句来表达对优秀地完成作业的学生的赞扬,能起到积极的推动作用。同时在对优等生的作业表扬中,教师可以不失时机地通过评语向他们提出更高的要求。比如不少学生的作业虽然是正确的,但缺乏创造性,我就写上:“ Well done! It’s excellent you haven't made any mistakes, but it’s much better to be creative. ” 又比如,班级中有个男同学英语成绩不错,作业正确率也较高,但是遗憾的是他的书写比较潦草,我常常提醒他注意改进,常在他的作业后写上“What good work! But try to make your handwriting nicer.”
二 友善的批评性的评语
在教学实践中,总会出现学生对知识理解掌握得不好的情况,在做作业时就会出现这样那样的错误,而绝大多数学生又比较敏感,自尊心很强,教师如果不注意批评的方式方法,往往事倍功半。在细心指出每一个错误的同时,给他们写评语的时候特别要注意语气的委婉,比如,“I think you can do better if you work harder.” “Would you mind being careful next time?” “It’s Chinglish. Let’s try to say correct English, shall we?” “I’m sor
ry you have made a few mistakes. I think you will work as carefully as you can next time.”
在所教的班级中还有不少学生由于种种原因成绩较差,作业常有抄袭现象,对于这部分学生的作业,我的感受是不能一刀切似的划个大叉叉,而是应该认真地批改,指出每一处错误,给他们的评语也不能马虎,“Try to do it by yourself! I believe you can !” “You are a clever boy. If you use your own head, maybe you will make fewer mistakes.” “Listen carefully and come to me if you find anything you can't understand.”对于他们的作业还要注意连续观察,有点进步就要及时给予肯定。比如:“ I’m so glad you do your homework by yourself ! Work hard, you can do it better! ”。
三 真诚的鼓励性的评语
在作业批改中采用鼓励性评语,提出富有层次性、指导性、针对性的改进与提高的目标,能让学生树立起再前进一步的信心。心理学认为,每个人都有被赏识的欲望。通过赏识、鼓励,一旦潜在的积极向上的心理动机被激发出来,他们具有的潜能将如火山喷发一样,淋漓尽致地发挥出他们的本色。学生更是如此,他们更需要受到不断地鼓励,以展开奋飞的翅膀,增加前进的信心。“You have made great progress!”“Congratulations! I wish you success in the coming examination.”等等。
尤其是学习后进生,对他们进行有效的积极的鼓励评价,及时发现他们的进步,并以关怀的态度指出存在的缺点和不足,根据学生的个别差异提出今后改进的具体建议,能激发他们潜在的上进心和求胜欲。“Good! There are only a few mistakes this time! Try to spell the words correctly!” “I’m so glad to see your work has improved ! But try to remember the words and phrases carefully! You will catch up with others soon!” “It’s good work! But pay attention to the tense! You’d better use the past tense here. Do you think so?”
书写评语要简单扼要,不要出现过多的生词和复杂的句型,尽量使用学生学过的词和句(必要时注明生词和新句型的意思)。评语要针对不同层次的学生,在学习方法上进行有针对性、实效性的指导,在情感上进行充分的沟通与激励,这样就会让他们有种亲切感,每当发到作业的时候就会有种期待感,而不是惧怕感。
就整个英语教学而言,写作业评语可以说是一个细节,但却是重要的一环。要求教师不仅要关注学生的作业本身,而且要关注学生的心理特点、思想情绪、个人爱好、学习习惯及英语水平等,以便言之有理、以理服人。在紧张忙碌的教学工作中,写评语固然会占用一定的时间,但是评语的确是师生课后交流的一个良好的平台和桥梁。教师的鼓励与点拨常常会对学生的学习产生很大的推动作用,有时甚至会使他(她)在学习上有质的飞跃!如果我们能坚持认真地写好作业评语,相信一定会对英语教学工作起到积极的促进作用。
