(1)My View on the Booming Cultural Festivals
In recent years, holding cultural festivals becomes a nation-wide fashion trend. From Hangzhou Tea Culture Festival, Qingdao Bee Festival to Wuqiao Acrobatics Festival and Qufu Confucius Cultural Festival, a variety of cultural festivals boom all around the country.
No one can deny the benefits of those cultural festivals, some of which do attract more tourists and investors, and bring huge profits to local residents. Moreover, cultural festivals can exhibit the unique cultural charm. For example, it is through many cultural festivals that plenty of unique Chinese traditional culture is introduced to the outside world. But there are some people worrying about the craze about holding cultural festivals. They suggest that it should be the time to cool down this overheating trend. First, some local governments overestimate the importance of cultural projects in the economic growth. They invest a lot in holding festivals and expect much more revenue. At the same time, the constructions of infrastructure are overlooked. What’s worse, some cultural festivals don’t have any local charm at all, the exhibition of which is absolutely wasting time and money.{53多个字的作文}.
As far as I am concerned, we should not cool down the festival trend but our mind. A calm mind an wise plan can bring us more successful cultural festivals.
(2)On Job-hunting Priorities
When a graduate hunts for a job, he has to take the priority issue of a few important factors into consideration, such as the pay, the specific field, and the location.
Graduates give priority to different elements. Some graduates think the pay should take the first place, since they have been spending the money of the family all the time, and it’s time to do something as the reward to other family members. Besides, a high pay usually means a relatively high position in the company. Some would take their major as the No.1 element, or it would be a big waste of what they have learned in college. Meanwhile, the major chosen for college most of the time reflects their interest and preference. Still others offer the pride of place to(将,,,置于突出地位) the location of the job. They believe big cities like Beijing or Shanghai will provide more opportunities, or a place close to hometown will furnish more convenience between the graduate and his family since most families now have one child only.
As to me, the ideal is the three elements combined together. But when I have to make a choice, I would pick up the best choice close to my family since ―East, west, home is the best.
(3)Limiting the Use of Private Cars
As is known to all, Beijing is an international metropolis (大城市), which has witnessed the rapid growth of automobile cars in recent years. Therefore, the government has taken some measures to limit the use of private cars. The even-odd rule is such a tentative method. At the present time, people are restricted to drive private cars during weekdays according to the last number of their license plate(车牌照).
Undoubtedly, it brings about many benefits. Firstly, it is estimated that there are more than 0.25 million private cars being cut on the road every day during the weekdays, which largely eases the traffic jam. Secondly, we can see clearly that the air quality has been improved a lot, and we can see the blue sky more in Beijing. In addition, as limiting the use of private cars, more people choose to work or go out by
bus or by subway, which accelerates the development of public transportation.
As for me, i go along with these measures. For many people, it's a good chance to do some exercise to keep healthy and to communicate with others.
(4)On Food Safety Issues
While it is true that there is a decline in the number of cases relating to adulterated foods and substandard foods, the safety of food remains a serious problem in this industry. Food-born diseases are largely responsible for high levels of sickness and mortality in the general public, particularly for infants, children, and the elderly.
There are various reasons for this heart-breaking fact. In my opinion, the responsibility goes for the most part to the food producers especially those who fail to meet safety standards. In order to make the most profit, some food producers may even intentionally use such chemicals as pesticides, animal drugs, etc., during manufacturing and processing just to make food look or taste good. At the same time, the government departments responsible for quality control fail to fulfill their duties, which makes the danger flow into the market. Besides, the media actually cheat the customers in their deliberate efforts to advertise the problematic food.
To make sure the food we eat is safe, the supervision of food production should be highly responsible. What's more, it is important for the government to drastically increase legal penalties on those who neglect food safety regulations. Nevertheless, the general public should be more aware that a healthy life relies on the safety of food.
(5) How to Deal with Cultural Differences?
People from different countries speak different languages, keep different value systems, and have different ways of looking on things, which generates cultural differences, with which cultural shock is born.
Different cultures may have different ways of responding to things. Thus, many everyday misunderstandings and irritations among people of different countries or races lie at the root of failure to recognize cultural differences. For example, eye contact may embarrass people from some western cultures. As a result, those who are uninformed about cultural differences may have communicating difficulty with their friends or business associates from other cultures. Sometimes it is upsetting to find people who behave differently from us. Some people may even become nervous and feel uneasy when they have to contact people from different cultures.
To deal with cultural differences, first, we should have respect for other cultures and avoid unintentionally offending others by learning the basic characteristics of other cultures. Second, if there is misunderstanding, take time to explain customs of our own culture to the foreign friends or business associates. Don't panic when some cultures in a foreign country catch you off your guard, just keep calm.
(6) My View on Drunken Driving
It is shocking to notice that tragic accidents caused by drunken driving have occurred with frequency recently. Four people were killed and one was seriously injured in Chengdu because of a young driver who had just been to a birthday party and got totally intoxicated with too much alcohol.
How can we make a quick and effective stop to these unimaginable calamities? Some people claim that severe punishment, even the extreme penalty, will work effectively, since people seem to learn more through the similar bitter cases having previously happened; others believe that more importance should be attached to education, and drunken driving should be an essential part of life education for the public. These suggestions do make sense and are actually in effect in many nations at present.
In my opinion, it is more important to take measures to avoid such occurrences. And the most important is the self-consciousness about potential dangers to life of drunken driving. Only when on is aware that life is being threatened would he try to avoid for self-protection.
(7) College Students' Social Responsibilities
If you google "the 71st anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre(大屠杀)" (in Chinese) on the Internet, you will be impressed by the video show of a girl's special commemoration. After watching the video, i was wondering where college students were. Taking into consideration their indifference to other historic events such as the May 4 Movement, we can conclude that college students lack the due social responsibility.
However, we should not simply criticize their indifference, and analysis should be made to reckon with (认真考虑) underlying reasons. Firstly, college students are imposed excessive pressure by the job market. They have to pay more attention to their studies. Secondly, many students believe that the history has already been borne in mind, and it is unnecessary to commemorate them each year. For them, it is better to internalize(使内在化)the humiliated(屈辱的) history and work hard than to hold ceremonies without some concrete (具体的,实质性的) contents.
To my way of thinking, college students should not keep silent on those occasions. It is our responsibilities to voice our intentions and let the society know that we have not forgotten the history.
(8)My View on Campus Violence
It is shocking to notice that extreme violence has occurred with frequency on campus in recent years. Several months ago, a university student hacked(砍) some of his classmates to death with a knife.in November this year, a college student from a prestigious(有声望的) university stabbed(刺)to death a professor who was preparing for his lecture.
These tragedies seem to be unimaginable when college students are regarded as the elite of the society. Some people claim that the higher education hasn't attached due importance to moral education of the college students. Others believe that college students are fragile(脆弱的) in their internal minds. These opinions do make sense when we take the overloaded pressure imposed on college students into consideration.
In my opinion, it is more important to take measures to avoid such occurrences. Among those solutions, psychological aid is one. Those criminals of the campus may have the experience of being humiliated or facing a lot of pressure. It is through psychological consultation(咨询) that they can outlet(发泄)their negative feelings and hence avoid extreme actions.{53多个字的作文}.
(9)Modern Technology and Human Intimacy
1. 有人认为现代科技拉近了人们的距离;2. 有人认为现代科技反而把人与人之间的距离拉开了;
With the advancement of technology, some believe that people have become more intimate(亲密的). There are several reasons for this phenomenon. The popularity of cell phones and Internet makes it possible to contact friends or relatives both at home and abroad. What's more, it is more convenient to pay a visit to someone due to the constant improvement in vehicles.
However, there are people with the opposite view. From their viewpoint, modern technology has not narrowed the gap. On the contrary, it helps widen the gap. An important reason is that calls, on-line chat, or short messages lack emotional clue, and they can never replace face-to-face communication. However, with the popularity of modern technology, more and more people tend to ignore real communication, and become addicted to(沉溺于) the isolated virtual world.
In my opinion, technology does not play a decisive role. It is our attitudes that count. If we value
friends and relatives, we should get close to them in person. Otherwise, they will feel emotionally distant.
(10) Unemployment upon Graduation
In recent years, we have witnessed an unfavorable social phenomenon---more and more college students become unemployed as soon as they graduate.
There are three possible reasons to account for this phenomenon. To begin with, the expansion of universities provides more chances for more students to receive education. However, the job market cannot provide enough job vacancies at the same time. What's more, the situation is even worse when some students unanimously choose the "hot" majors. In the third place, many students expect highly of themselves---they choose not to work at all if they are not satisfied with the job, the salary, the working conditions, etc.
Thus the solutions to this problem seem more than clear on this occasion. In order to create more job opportunities, the government should gradually optimize the industrial structure, laying more emphasis on the service industry. Moreover, university authority should take the job market into consideration while admitting new students. And college graduates should lower their expectations while hunting jobs. As long as the government, universities and students make joint efforts (共同努力), a sound solution is not far away.
(11) Left-behind Children in the Countryside
Every year, millions of people from rural areas pour into cities to find jobs. And the phenomenon of left-behind children is prevalent(盛行的).
Left-behind children are suffering a series of problems. They are not taken good care of by their parents because of the distance. Therefore, many of them are rather weak physically and psychologically. Besides, they are easily led astray(使误入歧途) due to the absence of parental love and guidance.
In my opinion, measures should be taken to solve the problems. Firstly, both people in the cities and countryside should endeavor (努力) to offer love and concern to these children. The parents in particular should not make money at the sacrifice (牺牲) of ignorance of their children. Secondly, policies should be implemented (贯彻,执行) so that children from countryside can also have access to educational opportunities, medical care and other services in the city. Finally, it is urgent to develop economy in the rural areas, so that people can get well-paid jobs near their homes.
(12)Keeping Customs
When people move to another country, they not only face a different environment and language, but also different customs. Some people choose to follow the customs of their adopted country, they may find that it helps them to adapt more quickly to the new society. They have something to discuss and share with their new neighbors, and sharing customs is one way for people to feel closer to one another. Thus, following the new customs may help immigrants feel more at home. It may also help them to see the positive things in their new environment and do forget their feelings of homesickness.
On the other hand, some people who choose to continue following their own customs may also find that it helps them feel more at home. There are many things to adjust to in another country, and following their traditional customs may help people feel more secure in the new surroundings. More importantly, our customs are a part of us. They are an expression of the culture that has shaped us. This is something that most of us would like to pass down to our children and share with others.
To sum up, our customs have value and are an important part of our culture. Therefore, I don’t believe that we should abandon our traditional customs when we move to another country. At the same time, I believe that we should learn about the customs of our new home and follow those that appeal to us.
In this way, we can remember and celebrate our old culture while adapting to our new one.
(13) On Qualification-obtaining Fever
Currently, there is a long-lasting fever of obtaining a variety of qualifications among college students, including vocational qualifications and skills certificates. Many students spend their weekends and vocation in preparing for tests on English, Law and Computer Science. Even after their graduation, some of them are still having full enthusiasm on it.
No doubt qualifications have attractions of their own. They are evidences to confirm students’ abilities. Work-related or competence-based qualifications may even help students find a satisfactory job, so students hold the opinion that they are obtaining not credentials but opportunities for their future.
However, as it is known to all that each coin has its two sides, obtaining qualifications also brings negative influences in spite of its advantages. First, some vocational qualifications are obtained at the expense of the basic discipline study or major learning. Second, it will take 300 to 500 Yuan for a certain certificate, leading to great financial burden. Third, better jobs do not always necessarily follow more qualifications.
From my point of view, what matters most is relevant experience or skill, not the number of credentials you have obtained.
(14) What Should Children Do in Their Spare Time
Nowadays, many parents send their children to various classesin the children’s spare time. These classes can be classified into two categories. First, on school subject, their intention is to reinforce and enrich the children’s knowledge acquired in school by means of more clarification and exercises. Second, classes to cultivate children’s interest, such as classes in English, dancing, etc.
Children’s attending classes in their spare time has become a controversial issue. Those who are for it think that the practice is good for the long term benefit of children and can enlighten children’s interest, broaden their horizon. Those who are against it hold the view that children have been deprived of their free time by attending classes they are not interested and thus become mechanical learners, at the price of their own interests.
I think children should have the right to enjoy their childhood, and to play. But certain guidance by parents to attend some classes is necessary since the parents have reasoning power and experience to raise the children to be prepared for their future with diversified interest and competence. But these classes should be refreshing and be able to attract children’s interest and not too much.
(15) Population Burden
Many countries will experience aging populations in the next century because of declining birth and mortality rates. China will soon join their ranks.
As for the issue of aging, its situation has been growing increasingly severe in spite of the fact most people are still ignorant of the problems it brings about. Firstly, with families becoming smaller and living pace escalating, it is even graver for families to care for aged members adequately. Secondly, aging causes a relative decline in working force in that fewer people have to support the increasing aged people.
